Unpacking rural Heterogeneity: A proof-of-concept study of how varying rural contexts shape breast cancer screening behaviors.

Rural women in the U.S. experience persistent inequities in breast cancer (BrCa) screening access, yet rural populations are often treated as a monolith in research and practice. This study serves as a proof of concept by examining how contextual heterogeneity across rural settings in South-Central Washington shapes screening behaviors and access, emphasizing the intersection of structural, cultural, and environmental factors through a community-informed lens.

Delphi study for the development of a dyadic social support intervention for people with traumatic brain injury.

People with traumatic brain injury (TBI) experience poor long-term health and participation outcomes, and current rehabilitation approaches fail to robustly improve these outcomes. An intervention aimed at enhancing social support may be an effective approach to promoting greater participation and improving long-term health outcomes among people with TBI.

VA-Comm: Developing and Piloting a Novel Communication Tool for Complex Lymphatic Anomalies and Lymphatic Malformations.

Complex lymphatic anomalies (CLAs) and lymphatic malformations (LMs) are rare diseases that cause lifelong complications. High-quality communication is essential for providing safe and effective care, but many families report insufficient communication and unreliable information. We aimed to develop and pilot a communication tool embedded within an electronic health record system.

Egg supplementation for 24 weeks does not improve linear growth or reduce small intestinal permeability in Sierra Leonean children with moderate wasting: a randomized, blinded, controlled trial

Environmental enteric dysfunction and stunting are common among children with moderate acute malnutrition in low-income countries. This study showed that supplementation with whole egg powder for 24 weeks, while providing ample amounts of essential amino acids, did not improve linear growth or gut integrity when compared with corn flour.

Music as a strategy to improve hypertension and stroke management: evidence from a crowdsourcing open call and designathon in Nigeria

In Nigeria, hypertension is on the rise. We employed a participatory, observational design, incorporating a five-month crowdsourcing open call followed by a designathon event, to find music-based ways to promote sustainable preventive practices. The designathon produced various music genres with lyrics deemed feasible and socio-culturally appropriate.
