As part of WashU Public Health’s Talking Public Health seminar series, Jean-Francois Trani, MS, MPhil, PhD, a professor at WashU Public Health, gave a talk April 22, 2026, titled, “Empowering communities to foster sustainable development goals: Case studies from Afghanistan and Pakistan.” The talk was at WashU and online. Trani studies the intersection of mental health, disability, aging, ethnicity/race, gender, and structural and social determinants of health in conflict-affected fragile states, low-income countries and underserved areas in the United States.
