Rebecca Messbarger, PhD, is a professor of Italian and leader of Medical Humanities at WashU Arts & Sciences. Through the intersecting histories of the gendered body, art, religion, and criminal justice, Messbarger studies how medical science shaped public health in the Enlightenment Age.
