When Tap Water Fails: Broken Trust and the Link to Sugary Drink Consumption

Uriyoan Colón-Ramos, PhD, MPA, is a public health researcher whose work focuses on nutrition, health equity, and social determinants of health, particularly among underserved populations. Her research examines how food/beverage environment and structural factors influence dietary behaviors and health outcomes. In this Global Health Seminar Series presentation, Dr. Colón-Ramos will discuss the emerging body of evidence from her research on lack of trust in tap water as a driver of sugar-sweetened beverage consumption in various settings and the implications for health disparities and public health interventions.
