“Unstable Evidence: Art, Data, and the Culture of Health” brings together public health researchers, artists, and scholars to explore the intersections of disease, migration, medical archives, and data-driven understandings of health.
Featuring keynote speaker Priscilla Wald (Duke University), the symposium examines how disease narratives influence perceptions of risk, migration, and belonging, and how data, models, and visualization systems shape what we can see, measure, and address in public health research and practice.
Bursky faculty member Ilana Seff will join the 1 – 2:30 p.m. panel, “Disease, Migration, and Metaphor.”
The symposium concludes with a screening of Ghani’s documentary DIS-EASE, exploring the intersections of medical imaging, public health messaging, science fiction, and political ideology. Jackson’s interactive installation, Marching Cubes, invites participants to explore how computational systems transform medical images and information into representations of the body.
