Talking Public Health with Mary Bunn

Mary Bunn, PhD, LCSW, is a global mental health researcher whose work focuses on the development, testing, and implementation of evidence-based interventions to improve mental health among forcibly displaced families and communities across the migration continuum. An assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and the Center for Global Health at the University of Illinois, Chicago, she is particularly interested in peer service delivery models, family-based prevention and mobilizing social and family resources through community-based approaches. Central to her approach are partnerships with forcibly displaced communities and collaborators from lived-experience, community and government organizations. Integrating implementation science and human-centered design, her work bridges evidence generation and systems strengthening to advance equitable mental health care for forcibly displaced populations. Bunn’s research is currently funded through grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Administration for Children and Families, Office of Refugee Resettlement, and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

Bunn will speak on, “Evidence-Based Interventions and Systems Strengthening to Improve Mental Health for Forcibly Displaced Families and Communities.” The talk will be available in person or online via Zoom.
