Global Health Futures

Our goal

We aim to create a research and learning environment that enables the development of solutions that promote health, reduce disparities and allow communities to deliver on the right to health for everyone, everywhere.

Areas of focus

Political and social structures

How societies organize politically and socially can perpetuate or fix unfairness that leads to disparate health outcomes. We aim to understand how laws, policies, and ways of governing can promote fairness in health for everyone.

Economic systems

Economic systems and market incentives shape resource distribution and people’s choices. Our research informs how societies regulate markets and adopt economic policies by considering their public health impact.

Environment

Harmful exposures from natural and built environments interact with social conditions to create unequal health risks. Identifying these sources helps design policies, neighborhoods, and technologies to prevent these risks.

Health systems

How healthcare is delivered and paid for affects how communities get care. We aim to identify policies, products, and strategies that health systems can use to improve health outcomes for all communities.

Demographics

Changing populations and social conditions affect disease patterns and the groups who are burdened. We seek to predict these changes and guide multi-sector strategies to prevent, treat, and control health conditions.

Community, safety and social context

Culture, community supports, social connections, and violence influence health outcomes. Researching community led solutions improves supports and reduces barriers to promote health and reduce health disparities.

Leadership

Joshua Bogus, MPH

Senior network manager

Joshua Bogus has devoted his public health career to supporting global health programs and research. Some of these studies informed changes to global guidelines and national policies to prevent disease exposure and improve population health at scale. These experiences inspire his work to build a network of public health researchers and partners to produce knowledge and tackle consequential health problems facing the globe.
