A process evaluation of a randomized controlled trial of an enhanced rehabilitation transition program for stroke survivors

This paper describes a randomized control trial of the Community Participation Transition after Stroke (COMPASS) intervention for stroke survivors returning home from inpatient rehabilitation. The results showed that COMPASS was low cost and effective in improving stroke survivors’ self-rated performance and satisfaction and in reducing environmental barriers to daily activities.

Active learning-guided catalyst design for selective acetate production in CO electroreduction

Acetic acid is an essential chemical with industrial and consumer relevance, but its manufacture has significant environmental impacts. Electrochemical CO reduction reaction (CORR) over Cu offers a sustainable route to acetate from waste carbon, but identifying appropriate catalysts is challenging. This paper offers a data-driven catalyst design strategy.

Assessing the usability of a novel toolkit for creating visual key information pages for informed consent for research: mixed methods usability study

Key information pages for informed consent require a concise summary of information but have not widely incorporated health literacy best practices. In this study, we conducted usability testing of a customizable one-page key information template. Overall, participants considered the toolkit to be appropriate, acceptable, and feasible.

Brugia malayi and other filarial parasite species in animals in areas endemic for lymphatic filariasis in Belitung District, Indonesia

Brugia malayi, the major cause of lymphatic filariasis in Indonesia, was thought to have been locally eliminated in Belitung district, but in 2021 filarial infections were identified in several villages. This study showed that animals in Belitung are commonly infected, underlining the need for targeted control measures to prevent zoonotic transmission.

Building capacity for HIV and implementation science among students in the United States: the stimulating training and access to HIV research experiences (STAR) program

Increasing the pool of implementation science and HIV investigators from underrepresented backgrounds remains elusive, largely due to limited investment in training and mentoring. We launched the Stimulating Training and Access to HIV Research Experiences (STAR) program to establish a pathway for underrepresented minority students to engage in such research.

Cluster randomized multilevel intervention for promoting physical activity in rural communities

Rural areas of the United States have lower levels of physical activity (PA) as compared to their urban and suburban counterparts, leading to higher levels of chronic diseases. The objective of the study was to increase PA in rural communities via a multilevel intervention.

Editorial: Impact evaluation using the translational science benefits model framework in the national center for advancing translational science clinical and translational science award program

Knowledge translation is a critical dissemination activity that transforms research results into new products, practices, and policies to benefit health and society. Yet, effectively bridging the gap between clinical research and practical applications is challenging. One model used to track and assess impact is the Translational Science Benefits Model, introduced in 2018.

Diaphragm-based carbon monoxide electrolyzers for multicarbon production under alkaline conditions

Transforming waste carbon into valuable fuels and chemicals is a key step toward sustainable manufacturing. One approach is the electrochemical conversion of carbon monoxide (CO) into energy-rich multicarbon compounds. Here we show that diaphragms offer a feasible pathway for CO electrolysis, helping reduce system costs and enhance compatibility with renewable energy inputs.

Development of a cognitive behavioral therapy intervention among pregnant women in Pujehun District, Sierra Leone

In rural, poor, largely illiterate Pujehun District of Sierra Leone there were no interventions available for perinatal depression (PND). To address this need, Project Peanut Butter established a counseling service. This model serves as a replicable framework for similar initiatives in high illiteracy contexts.
